Coexistence of Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Pulmonary Tuberculosis Within a Single Lesion: A Case Report

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and lung cancer are both common diseases with poor prognosis high mortality worldwide. The coexistence of the two has rarely been reported while their relationship noted. Here we describe a patient diagnosed TB squamous cell carcinoma in single lesion. had cough for four months polypnea months, smoking history over 40 years. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed lobular mass right hilar region, which was as by transbronchial biopsy. symptoms CT findings indicated possibility cancer. So, underwent further biopsy at periphery mass, confirmed carcinoma. This case illuminated that when cancer-like morphologic features location instead typical TB, even initial pathological result shows should be considered.
